A place to be human, understand what keeps you stuck, and create meaningful change.
Lisa Gillispie, LPCC, is a NARM® Master Therapist and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner based in Columbus, Ohio, helping people connect more deeply with themselves.
How you’ve managed isn’t working anymore.
You've done the reading. You've tried the coping skills. You may have found somatic therapy through a podcast, a book, or your own research, and you're ready for something that brings the body into the work.
Therapy might have helped before, but you still get stuck in familiar reactions. You understand yourself more deeply now, yet the way you criticize and judge yourself still shapes how you relate to yourself and move through your life—keeping you from living as your real, imperfect self.
You don’t just want to understand your patterns. You want to experience what it feels like when they no longer run your life. You’re ready for more than getting by.
You’re not a problem to be fixed. You’re a person to be heard, understood, and met with respect.
Working with Me
-
My work is about helping what you already know become something you can genuinely experience in your body, your relationships, and your daily life.
-
I’ll ask questions that help us slow things down, notice what’s happening with curiosity, and explore what you’re experiencing in both your mind and body.
-
Like a kettle on a stove, pressure builds, and the spout lets off steam so it doesn't boil over—that's what coping skills do. Together we can explore what's keeping the burner on in the first place and begin turning it down, bit by bit. We’ll look beneath the symptoms to understand the strategies that may be driving them and why those strategies feel necessary.
-
You've adapted in ways that helped you get to this place, but those same adaptations may now cost you more than they give. Together, we'll make sense of those patterns and support embodied change so you have more freedom and choice in how you relate to yourself and engage with others.
The body was my first training.
For more than two decades, I was a licensed massage therapist specializing in craniosacral therapy, a hands-on mind-body modality. That experience taught me to pay attention not just to what’s being expressed verbally but also to physical responses, sensations, and subtle shifts in tension patterns. That information can offer important clues and help guide our exploration.
My training in NARM® (the NeuroAffective Relational Model) and Somatic Experiencing® built on that foundation, helping me work with both what you understand and what you experience in your body.
Today, I also serve as faculty at the Complex Trauma Training Center, where I train therapists to deepen their clinical work.
This isn’t a one-sided experience—we’re here to do therapy together. I bring steadiness and presence to your therapy process, and thoughtfully challenge you as we explore what keeps your old patterns in place.
Here, there’s no need for polish or pretense. There’s room for your complexity, your contradictions, and your humanity.
